Curse of the Food Pyramid
So today the government released its revised dietary guidelines. Instead of one "food pyramid," now there will be twelve:

In my Day Job, I'm an information designer. The fastest way to get people to ignore what you're trying to tell them is to make it so complicated that they get confused and just give up. I'll bet people pay even less attention to the new guidelines than the old ones. Which may be exactly what the food industry wants, a confused public who'll keep eating the sugar and fat and other unhealthy crap because they don't know any better, don't care, and because they're off-balance from not knowing, eat junk food because some commercial tells them it will make them happy and well-liked.
It's enough to drive a man to chocolate. :)
