Boats, bars, and ballads
It's been an interesting week.
On Wednesday, I had lunch with my friend John, who publishes the local Music Scene magazine for Alameda and the Oakland area. We talked about ways to promote my music, and he suggested several places I might play, and introduced me over at the Alameda Art Center.
At his suggestion, I went by Tommy Rocko's on Alameda in the evening to play an open mike. I had fun doing that and hanging with John and some other local musicians.
Today I was down at the Strictly Sail show at Jack London Square. I played a set break for Florida musician Eric Stone, and talked with a whole bunch of neat folks about sailing and about my music. Hopefully I'll get a couple of yacht club shows out of this.
I just ordered the new Kenny Chesney album a couple of days ago; I'll try to review it in a future post.
Management has changed at Coffee for Thought, but I'm still on the schedule for Friday the 13th of May. I really oughta find something unusual to do for that show, just because...
